Alice joined Philip Lee in 2004 and was appointed as a partner in 2007. Her career focus since qualifying as a lawyer in 2001 has been on the provision of strategic advice to clients operating in the environmental, energy, infrastructure and development sectors. Alice has a significant business development role within the firm.

Alice has spent much of her career to date focusing on the development and implementation of EU law in Ireland, in particular in the areas of environmental, planning, energy, climate and other related areas such as health and safety and competition law. Through the application of her in-depth knowledge of key EU and Irish legal and policy developments, she provides sound commercial and strategic advice to ensure that plans, projects, decisions and activities are implemented successfully, and that costly disputes are avoided.

Alice advises on Access to Information on the Environment and Public Participation / Consultation procedures under the Aarhus Convention and related regulations.

In addition to her advisory work for both public and private sector clients, Alice represents clients in Court and dispute resolution procedures. Her litigation practice includes environmental prosecutions, injunctions, judicial review, and commercial and competition court proceedings.

Alice has great communications skills, and is quick to learn the nuts and bolts of her clients’ business activities and industries. She works closely with engineers, designers, ecologists, PR consultants, other lawyers and specialists to ensure a collaborative and positive approach to successful project delivery.

Alice spends most of her time working on onshore wind and renewable energy projects, waste management (treatment, recovery and recycling) and waste to energy, transport infrastructure (roads, tunnels, bridges), water services and infrastructure, including water abstraction and waste water treatment facilities, aquaculture and marine developments, including port and harbour re-developments, subsea cables and offshore renewable energy projects.

Alice is regularly requested to contribute to industry-focused conferences and seminars, and audiences appreciate her informative and engaging presentations. She publishes articles of commercial interest to clients in industry journals and newspapers (both on-line and print media). She has been interviewed on TV3, TodayFM and Kerry Radio.
