MiCiM Ltd, based in Reading Berkshire, a main contracting and project management service provider in the mission critical sector have acquired London based company Operational Intelligence (OI), an organisation that offers bespoke training, consultancy, and commissioning services to clients to optimise their data centre risk and energy performance.
The collaborative relationship was formed when working together on several data centre projects.
MiCiM’s Managing Director Marc Beattie said, “It is extremely exciting times for MiCiM, with the acquisition of OI, it fulfils a requirement which I always thought was missing in the industry – intertwining of blue collar engineers to white collar engineers. It will enhance the services of both companies and provide clients with services all through the project lifecycle. MiCiM would then have ownership of project management, buildability, design peer review, commissionability review, commissioning agent and training of the operations team in the new systems. This provides confidence to our clients that when they go out to tender for a general contractor, they know the project programme is correct, the design works, the project can be built and commissioned, and their project tea, has full ownership throughout – no excused!”
Sophia Flucker, Managing Director of OI commented, “We are excited about this new chapter and the new opportunities this opens up for delivering high-quality services to our clients. There are clear synergies between the two organisations and we are looking forward to working together to grow our team and develop and extend our service offering and increase our impact in the market.”
MiCiM are now able to offer additional services:
- Commissioning Agent or Management
- Ops staff training in all engineering principles in data centres including energy management
- Design peer reviews
In addition to these services, we are delighted to announce the appointment of MiCiM’s first female board director, with Sophie leading the change for women in construction, being an award-winning mission critical engineer, she has forged her name in the industry and stands as a role model for future young engineers. Sophia is a chartered mechanical engineer who has worked internationally with a variety of different data centre clients and co-authored a number of white papers on data centre energy efficiency, sustainability, risk and operational optimisation.
