Chaired by Professor Dan Kilper of Trinity College Dublin and the CONNECT Centre, the discussion will feature representatives from ECO-eNET industry partners Adtran and Polariton, alongside academic perspectives from Chalmers University of Technology and ETH Zurich. A representative from MBRYONICS is also expected, subject to confirmation.
Speakers will reflect on lessons learned throughout the project, share practical applications of the technologies developed, and discuss pathways to real-world deployment and commercial adoption.

The global data centres industry is at a pivotal point where energy efficiency no longer proves sustainability. Metrics now go beyond the norm where factors such as carbon and water are now front of mind when it comes to sustainability. This panel will address how Ireland is responding to the need for metrics to go beyond traditional efficiency. You will learn;
- Why efficiency (PUE) is a ration, not proof. Facilities can be highly efficient but still carbon and water intensive
- The unmeasured dimensions; the lifecycle of carbon and water use as exposed by 2026 hosepipe restrictions
- Measurement based, independently audited certification as the way operators demonstrate real performance
- Understand what Ireland’s new grid connection rules effectively require operators to prove
- Separate three things the debate constantly raises – absolute consumption, efficiency and sustainability
