Biography

Michael Sigourney founded AVTECH in 1988, after a successful career in sales & marketing for several leading software companies. Michael took his expertise from years spent working in the tech industry and began developing AVTECH’s first line of software products, which were designed to manage and monitor the utilization of computers.
In the mid-1990’s, Michael recognized the rapid growth of data centers as the Internet quickly grew in popularity. He led the introduction of Room Alert hardware based on the experiences AVTECH customers were having with downtime caused by temperature extremes and power failures. Room Alert grew to become the most successful part of AVTECH’s product line, and under Michael’s leadership the Room Alert brand has now spread worldwide with customers and resellers in 187 of 196 countries. Room Alert helps organizations protect against downtime by proactively monitoring environment factors such as temperature, humidity, flood, power, smoke, motion and more.
AVTECH has been recognized as an industry leader with awards including the US Small Business Administration Rhode Island Exporter of the Year 2018, IT Infra World’s Top 10 IT Infrastructure Monitoring Solution Providers, Internet Telephony Magazine’s Network Security Excellence, and Innovation in Manufacturing Awards from the Providence Business News in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
