2026 is proving to be a pivotal year for the Irish Data Centres industry. 8 months in and the industry is still trying to decipher the announcements back in the first quarter from the CRU and Eirgrid. Yet, during this time of uncertainty and confusion the industry is showing resilience and tenacity as it looks to future proof itself.
DataCentres Ireland 2026 will provide a platform for the whole industry to address some of the most pressing issues, as well as topics that are helping to strengthen and unite the industry. On 18-19 November the conference will welcome insight and knowledge from the most respected and esteemed members of the data centres industry across Ireland. The panel sessions will tackle some tense conversations being had and ask some hard questions that need answering. There will also be a wealth of technical expertise shared as the industry looks to new technologies and solutions to bolster data centre performance in a sustainable manner.
Some of the key topics DataCentres Ireland 2026 will address include;
- LEAP (Large Energy User Action Plan) a policy update – what is the current state of play, who is driving the policy forward and who is creating obstacles and the reality of applying greater renewable energy capacity to the data centre sector.
- The role of private ecosystems in Ireland’s data centres future – how microgrids can relieve pressure on the grid, why their design is challenging traditional methods and what is their true operational performance
- Campus data centres and their design – how regionalisation is influencing the campus agenda, why campus data centres are challenging existing design approaches and the community benefits that campus data centres can bring.
- Private wire as a genuine solution – current state of play with the Bill, the true benefits of utilising private wire and how it can shape and strengthen Ireland’s data centres
- Ireland as a strategic connectivity and subsea cable hub – existing subsea cables and connectivity projects, transatlantic opportunities for subsea cables and regionalisation opportunities to bolster connectivity.
The above are just a taster of what DataCentres Ireland will touch on, but it shows a desire that the industry has to move forward, adapt and in some cases evolve.
