Biography

I have over 30 years General / Senior management experience across a broad range of industry sectors, including private sector, multi-national and commercial semi-state companies. Significant track record in leading out on Major Business and Sectoral Transformation Programmes, Delivery of Large Scale Infrastructure, Commercial, Technology, Business Transformation, Operations and Start Up Projects.

Specialties: Sectoral Leadership and Transformation, Large Scale Infrastructure Delivery, Renewable Energy, Complex Regulated Utilities, Complex Commercial Transactions, New Business Development, Strategic Planning, Open Innovation, Business Transformation.

EirGrid Group is responsible for a safe, secure and reliable supply of electricity throughout the island of Ireland. The group develops, manages and operates the electricity transmission grid through EirGrid in Ireland and SONI in Northern Ireland and is also responsible for planning the electricity transmission system of the future.

EirGrid Group includes SEMO – the Single Electricity Market Operator. SEMO operates the wholesale electricity market across the island. The Group also owns and operates the East West Interconnector, a high-voltage link between the electricity grids in Ireland and Great Britain and is planning the Celtic Interconnector which will connect the Irish and French electricity systems.

EirGrid’s new purpose is to “Transform the Power System for Future Generations” which places us at the centre of Ireland’s “Climate Action Plan”, a highly ambitious policy framework which seeks to deliver a world leading power system with an average of 70% renewables generation by 2030.
