Today, creating and planning a data center strategy has become incredibly complicated. Companies now have a whole slew of choices: modernize an old facility, build a new one, lease, use colocation and/or cloud services and any number of combinations. Knowing which option will best fit the needs of the business and how the industry is developing starts with asking the right questions.  Join Garry and Nabeel as they discuss data and the future of the data centers.

Looking at Ireland as a major datacenter location for Europe we can see the density in the Dublin area is creating pressure for both land and power. Should the industry now encourage more development outside of Dublin , what issues could that potentially solve and what would be required to make it possible. As an industry what should the focus be in terms of policy engagement, the planning process and investment into 2022 and beyond.  Can we learn anything from other countries in terms of their national strategies, critical mass of facilities and workforce availability to help us chart a path to more regional development in Ireland.

The two biggest trends upon us as a society are digitalisation and decarbonisation. The place where they intersect and come to life is none other than the data centre. Data is at the heart of everything we do and shows no signs of slowing down.

By 2025, the Uptime Institute is predicting a net global staff growth of 300,000 data centre jobs. How do companies harness the untapped potential offered by a career creating the digital world we live in? Ensuring candidates understand these exciting roles and opportunities is quickly becoming one of the greatest challenges facing the industry here in Ireland, and for Irish companies abroad.

Our panellists will help you gain insight on the data centre career opportunity, from employers attracting and developing talent to employees and graduates looking for new career paths.
